Imperial Beach Records and Radio, a new vinyl record store owned by local couple Deana and Joe Tames, has tapped into the growing nostalgia for vinyl records and turntables, offering a wide range of albums from the 1930s to the 90s, alongside band t-shirts, turntables, and accessories. The store, located at 700 Seacoast Drive Unit 107, has already seen a diverse crowd of customers, from teens to those in their 50s and 60s, drawn by the chance to relive memories tied to vinyl, like the author’s own recollection of buying Michael Jackson’s Thriller as a teen. With thousands of records in their collection—including jazz, rock, and hip-hop—and plans for a future radio station and podcast studio, the Tameses are creating a space for people to unplug and enjoy music at a slower pace.
